JSB visit to the ICD Piyala M/s gateway Rail Freight Limited- Ballabhgarh, Faridabad

On April 21, 2022, the Jaipuria School of Business students were delighted to be able to visit the Inland Container Depot (ICD) Piyala M/s gateway Rail Freight Limited – Ballabhgarh, Faridabad. Under the guidance of the visionary Director of Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, and with the assistance of knowledgeable Professor Dr. Rajeev Mathew.

It was a wonderful initiative that provided education on entrepreneurship and served as a morale booster for the students. Students were greeted with a friendly welcome and offered snacks and beverages, followed by an orientation session with the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Shashikant Mehta.

The ICD is a state-of-the-art facility that serves as one of the most up-to-date dry ports, handling imports and exports bound containers through its leading railway logistics network in north India from gateway ports such as Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Pipavav.

Mr. Aditya Gupta (Associate Vice President-Exim Sales) explained the shipping industry, logistics, and supply chain to the students and future and present prospects in the business. Then Mr. Shashikant Mehta (Deputy Commissioner – Customs) explained the customs and various documentation necessary for clearance and the whole warehousing procedure until inspecting the containers. Mr. Anurag Chouhan (Customer Service Manager) explained how to use the query handling process, a 24*7 method in the shipping business.

After the orientation, the students handled the mementos and green saplings as a token of thanks and civility. After they had a thorough understanding of the facility, Mr. Ankur (Terminal Manager) led them on a tour of the entire complex. The latter explains to students everything about the terminal and rail operations practically and professionally.

Jaipuria School of Business’s director extended gratitude to everyone and thanked all the authorities for their assistance and hospitality throughout his visit.

Overall, it was an enlightening experience that gave the students a valuable insight into the logistical and shipping industry and a greater understanding of current trends in business that they can apply to their education.

Jaipuria School of Business is well known for its experiential learning pedagogy. It was one such opportunity where students could witness the actual life application of the concepts they have learned in their classroom.
