Expert Talk on Design Thinking

Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, on its third day of Prarambh 2020– Orientation Programme of Batch 2020-22 held a session on Design Thinking by Design Thinking Evangelist and Consultant, Mr. Vijay Ghei, Mr. Ghei’s professional career spans over 35 years, wherein he served last at NIIT Technologies Limited, as Senior Vice President – Head of Strategic Initiatives, Consulting, and Advisory Services before moving into independent consultancy services.
The aim of the program was to sensitize students on Design Thinking and on adopting a pragmatic approach to using this technique in solving real-life complex problems that they are likely to come across in their professional domain.
Mr. Ghei started his session with an example of designing and building high-speed packaging machines in 1982 by Unilever India for their product Sunlight Soap, which emphasized Design Thinking as a human-centered approach to innovation and that integrates the requirements of people, with the help of technology in sorting their needs with market demand. Mr.Gheiintroduced the process of Design Thinking in the simplest way in which he illustrated the best practices followed globally. According to him, Design Thinking is an incredibly powerful tool for any field: From Manufacturing, Data Analytics to Entrepreneurship and beyond.
He also stated that Design Thinking permeates all strata of Management, irrespective of their specialization. This approach will not only help them become innovative but also increase the efficiency of any organization.
Later, Mr. Ghei responded to various queries put across by the students and helped them understand the concept and bring clarity to their understanding.
The session successfully brought forth the power of Design Thinking and how important it is in today’s changing scenario. His session was highly appreciated by the students and they expressed the hope to look forward to more such enlightening sessions.
