Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) ensures all its stakeholders have access to fair and accurate processes. The policy focuses on assessment practices that are consistently evolving, transparent, free from bias, and meet the expectations not only of guiding leadership but also accreditation and regulatory bodies as well as national goals.
- To ensure the quality and conduct quality checks on different activities undertaken in all departments
- To ensure and enhance the quality at the student activity centres of the institute to meet expected outcomes.
- To promote the adoption of best practices.
IQAC shall follow the below-mentioned aims:
- Ensuring timely, efficient, and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks;
- The relevance and quality of academic and research program;
- Equitable access to and affordability of academic program for various sections of society;
- Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;
- The credibility of evaluation procedures;
- Sharing of research findings and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.
- Development and application of quality benchmarks for various academic and administrative activities of the institute;
- Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education;
- Documentation of the program and activities leading to quality improvement;
- Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents, and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
- Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process.
IQAC Interventions:
The IQAC team collects feedback from academics, examinations, library, IT and administration. The feedback report is then shared with all IQAC committee members to review and give recommendations / suggestions to the Director General. The Director General then discusses it with concerned Activity Heads viz.:
- Academics – Dean (Academics) and Program Chair
- Examination – Controller of Examination
- Feedback – Dean (Academics)
- IT In-charge
- Librarian
- Admin Head
The suggestions and action proposed by the Activity Heads are consolidated and the final findings are further discussed in the FCM, taking the best practices of other institutions, if required.
Academic matters such as courses, curriculum, teaching learning pedagogy, assessment, grading is forwarded to Curriculum and Academic Review Committee. The recommendation of Curriculum and Academic Review Committee is sent to DG for further necessary action. The final outcome approved by DG is to be integrated into the next academic year.
Other key initiatives of IQAC:
- Academic and Administrative Audit: Upgrading academic and administrative processes is a continuous endeavour of JSB. As per the recommendation of IQAC, a standardized Academic and Administrative audit process is introduced recently with an objective of self and external evaluation and sustenance initiatives for maintaining quality.
- Use of ICT: Teaching has been strengthened by extending the facilities of LCD projectors, laptops/desktops, and Learning Computing Software, Internet connection, Wi-Fi in all academic areas including hostels/guest houses, Library etc to promote ICT learning.
- The growth and development of faculty members and staff is important for the overall growth of the institution. To fulfill this objective a self-appraisal form is filled by all and the same are consolidated and presented before the Head of the institution. The strength and weakness of every employee on all the criterions are analysed by the Head of the Institution and the same is conveyed to the faculty member for further improvements.
- Recently a new Learning Management System called OLT was introduced. The objective of a learning management system is to add another level of efficiency to an organization and the growth of its students. LMS is also used to share various study materials to the students. Faculty members use it for various academic activities such as attendance, online quizzes, upload of study materials and other evaluation process and announcement of trimester-wise grading system to its students.
- A standardized feedback format was prepared taking into consideration all the aspects of academic and administrative inputs. We have established a Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all activities being carried out in the institution by all departments handling academics, examination, admission, placement, stores, maintenance, accounts, salary, appointments, promotions, library etc.
- As part of green initiatives activities to promote eco-friendly measures such as conserve energy - save electivity are undertaken. We have created awareness among all employees to find out means of reduction energy wastage, simple measures like using two sides of paper for printing, using waste paper for rough work, using the lights/fans when needed, switching off lights in unused rooms etc are also practiced.
